Description: If you’ve read a newspaper or a style magazine this year you’ve probably already come across the concept of ‘hygge’ because it seems that it and all things Scandinavian are very much on trend at the moment. But if not, let me explain! ‘Hygge’ is a Danish concept meaning something akin to wellbeing, cosiness, warmth, intimacy, comfort.
Helen Russell, writing in The Telegraph, says…
The best explanation of hygge I’ve encountered during three years in the land of Nord is: “the absence of anything annoying or emotionally overwhelming; taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things”. Candlelight is hygge. Bakeries are hygge. Dinner with friends is hygge.
So that’s the concept behind our next supper club. Think open fires, candlelight, mellow feelings, friendly company and delicious food. The menu will be a mix of Danish classics and soul comforting mountain food. With canapés to start & maybe glogg to finish it’s a night not to miss!
£30.00 per head, includes a complimentary aperitif, then BYO wine, beer or other alcoholic drinks. Essex’s finest tap water provided!

Appetisers: a smørrebrød of Danish canapes
Starter: Fiske frikadeller with remoulade – Danish fishcake with a creamy herb and pickle sauce
Mains: Fragrant spiced roast pork belly with apples, served with celeriac, potato & mushroom gratin, steamed broccoli
Dessert: Spiced apple cake with gløgg
